How Our Legacy Began

What began as a humble gathering of sports lovers in a sleepy suburb has grown into one of Mumbai's most iconic cultural and sporting institutions.

In the late 1920s, a few visionary residents of Khar came together with a simple idea of creating a space that would bring people together through sport, culture, and community. With the backing of luminaries like B.G. Kher (later Chief Minister of Bombay State), Khar Gymkhana was officially born in 1928.

From evening games of bridge and carrom in a borrowed bungalow to hosting national tournaments across multiple sports - the journey has been anything but ordinary.

Built by Pioneers. Shaped by Champions.

From cricket pitches carved out of paddy fields to state-of-the-art courts and arenas, Khar Gymkhana has always been a launchpad for sporting excellence.

Names that graced our cricket grounds went on to represent India. Our courts have seen Davis Cup ties, Commonwealth tournaments, and national-level showdowns in squash, TT, badminton, and more.

With world-class coaching and some of the finest facilities in the city, KG continues to nurture new talent every season.

Where Community Comes to Life

Beyond sport, Khar Gymkhana has always been a vibrant hub for conversation, creativity, and celebration.

From musical nights on Kojagiri Pournima to Diwali, Christmas, Dandiya and more. Every festival here is reason to come together.

Whether it's a literary evening at the library, an impromptu debate in the card room, or a wellness session in the yoga hall - the spirit of community lives in every corner.

A Space That Grows With You

What began as a single-room setup has transformed into a complete lifestyle experience.

Today, the gymkhana offers an elevated pool with sunset views, international-standard badminton and squash courts, air-conditioned billiards and table tennis rooms, and a state-of-the-art gym, spa, and health club.

Members can enjoy diverse dining spaces including Legends, Pavilion, and Poolside, along with conference rooms, event venues, and lounges suited for every occasion. A space rooted in history, yet thoughtfully designed for the way we live today.
